.kiitos hyvää

after using this expression inflationary
as an upgraded thank you
therefore meaning thank you very much
i was told that i am using it wrong.
well i used it in several - all -
emails...
you only use this expression when
you are asked mitä kuuluu [how are you]
well i have learned something.
kiitos leena ;)

so this week is full of researching
i do so much research on patrick modiano
that i can finally remember his name
without a blink
and i also participated a research lesson
for med master students.
i still love those research guides!
they are of so much worth - they do all the work for you!

tomorrow we will finish the display cabinet
and i will make some more pictures
and i will also post them

i can only point out - again and always
that the staff[s] of all the libraries are
so so funny, nice and helpfull
i am very happy to be here
even though i am constantly freezin, ha.
but come on - it is now -3 degrees.
yes MINUS

nevertheless

hyvää iltaa
[no, i did not knew that, yes, i still have to look that up
poorly. i know]

.time flies

- and i am not really sure if this
common german expression also works
in english.

ha.

this week i am at the teutori library
which is pretty neat and i have
to make some more pictures
because it is brand new and located
at an old building which was
a shoe factory before.

i am doing all the smal works
like labeling books and journal folder
and getting to know the staff
which are all really nice and funny
everyone here is taking such good
care of me!

i am also doing a exhibition shelf
- well more a display cabinet
with sana, on patrick modiano
the nobel price winner.
that is a really nice work
we looked up all the books, the libraries
have in stock
and tomorrow we will be decorating
the cabinet
only the pictures are quite uneasy to find
because of the publishing rights...
i will show pictures when we are ready.

-

the weather changed a bit, it is getting
colder and i bought some sweaters
i am also counting days since i am
expecting a visitor. (actually two
and not at the same time, ha)

so far, i could not be happier.
always good days ahead.

ola hyvää.
nähdään.

.all the mushrooms!

yes. it took place.
and it was amazing!

i am going easy on the pictures. haha
so there are just a few...
i hope you enjoy them as much
as i did the kurjenrahka nationalpark

kiitos hyvää to the library staff!!!

those mushrooms in the basket
are not mine, but a few in the
pan are!

.third week

it is already wednesday or wet-ness-day.
its raining cats and dogs and i am crossing my fingers
because tomorrow should be a mushroom picking
with some of the library staff.
but if it rains, well than i will be very p - iiiiep.
fingers crossed!

so i spent the last three days
at juslenia, there at the department for
the FENNICA collection

those days were full of information
and also full of history lessons and also
full of books.
yay!
very old books!

FENNICA is called the collection
which is based on the donations from very
famous thinker and politicians
[for example a former president
mr. paasikivi, left his private library
to the university library of turku]
this is showen through his very own exlibris
every book from this collection has it.
but FENNICA is not only based on those
donations also
is the turku university library one of the
six national deposit libraries.
this means that everything [and weirdly
for real - everything]
which is printed within finnland has to
be given to those libraries.
for that turku university library has
one of the largest collections of books
and journals.
here is a nice link for more information

today i also learned what a incunable is.
it is a book which is printed before or
around 1450 -1500
yeah - i know!
and they have 17 of them.
it was a bit like christmas for me.
of course - there are pictures attached.

i also learned a lot about the history
of turku and finnland and its library history
because i think that panu turunen, who is
as special librarien of Fennica,
and alos a very versed and very well read man.
i am very thankfull for the last three days
which were a bit different, since everyone
is looking into the the future with all
those changes
but - sometimes there is a need
to also look back
and cherish the knowledge of others.

kiitos hyvää panu!

i should also mention that panu speaks
a hell good german, so i had the best
three days also in that way!

.there are so many exlibris to discover

.this is actually the most significant sign of an incunable

.this is a papyrus

.second week

so my week at the library of the
school of economics was
quite a accomplishment.
it was a lot of routine work,
circulation desk hours
[where i am not alone, since
finnish is the spoken language
but i tried to help as much
as i could]
and book shelving [obviously this
is a running gag]
and closed storage orders.

i trained a lot on the voyeger
library system. which is kind
of self-explanatory but still new
to me. so mostyl i try to observe
while being at the circulation desk.

i also participated in a staff meeting
on friday
where i could intruduce my
apprenticeship as a proffesional in
media and informationservices
via a power point presentation.
[boy was i nervous]
but it went well.
and afterwards juha hartikainen
went to the book fare with me.
that was a lot of fun.
mainly because there was also
a food fare - we tried all! the food.

and today we were at the castle
of turku, juha and me.
we had the best weather and so so
much fun!

kiitoy hyvää juha!

he is the best guide i could wish for
"this was a defence castle
not a party castle, the party castle
is further in"

enclosed i few picture i took
during this week.

hyvää sunnuntai.

.the second week

is almost done!
 -  i know.

time flies. it is a bit weird though.

this week i am at the library of the school of economics
and it is really nice that i have achieved a some kind
of daily routine there.
so i am doing all the stuff that i know from my own
library - like shelving. haha. and tones of other
things which are a daily business at every library.
and i was everyday at the circulation desk
which is at the school of economics a new version
of that (or of their old one).
there are two practical standing tables, with computers
on them and a cash box
which secure a direct dialogue with the costumers
that makes it more personal and you approach each other
at the same height. i like that a lot.
i think/hope i did a good job today. it is quite nice that everyone
does speak english and i try to say kiitos and anteeksi a lot.

we also moved few old journals in the closed stack.
exercise!

and i also enjoy the nature quite a lot.
it is killing me a bit, because i always have to stop
while running for the clicking. haha. worst.

hyvää ilta!

.weekend

is now over, i know
but
since the weather is still really good
and i had a lot of fun
i let the pictures speak for themself.

this is a part of ruissalo, a island next to turku
which you can reach via the city bus. happy me.
bacause this was really calming and nice.
